World Breastfeeding Week 2025

The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) announces the slogan for WBW2025:

#WBW2025
“Prioritise breastfeeding: create sustainable support systems”

This WBW, the spotlight is back on environment and climate change. The campaign underscores the importance of prioritising breastfeeding by building robust and sustainable support systems. A supportive environment for breastfeeding not only benefits families but also significantly reduces the environmental impact associated with artificial feeding. WBW2025 aims to connect actors across all levels involved in breastfeeding support to create resilient and sustainable support systems. We will also highlight the World Health Assembly (WHA) 2025 Nutrition Targets.

Objectives of WBW2025
  1. Inform people about their role in creating supportive and sustainable environments for breastfeeding
  2. Anchor continuous breastfeeding support as a vital component to create a sustainable environment
  3. Engage with individuals and organisations to enhance collaboration and support for breastfeeding
  4. Galvanise actions on connecting breastfeeding support systems to contribute to a more sustainable environment

"A lactation consultant is a health care professional whose scope of practice is focused upon providing education and management to prevent and solve breastfeeding problems and to encourage a social environment that effectively supports the breastfeeding mother/infant dyad." (ILCA 1993)

Congratulations to the Florida Lactation Consultant Association on your 2020 Outstanding Chapter Award!

“As a long-time Chapter of USLCA, the Florida Lactation Consultant Association was selected for its dedication to the promotion of breastfeeding, as well as the support it provides its chapter members. In the past year, FLCA has awarded multiple scholarships to help members cover the cost of recertification, and it has provided multiple grants to members for outreach efforts and World Breastfeeding Week activities. FLCA has also created a text messaging system to communicate with chapter members more efficiently. USLCA is proud to have such a dedicated and supportive chapter!”

Mission: To build and sustain a statewide association that advocates for lactation professionals
Vision: IBCLCs are valued recognized members of the health care team.
Become a part of this dynamic, essential and exciting professional organization

FLCA is dedicated to creating a climate among health professionals, parents, and the general population which promotes, supports, and protects breastfeeding as the optimum method of infant feeding.

The purposes of FLCA are:
To serve as a chapter of the United States Lactation Consultant Association and abide by its bylaws and policies.
To enhance the reputation, image and credibility of lactation consultants
To improve the status of the lactation consultant profession
To provide continuing education for lactation consultants
To serve as a network of information for lactation consultants

FLCA encourages collaborative work among its members and other maternal-child health care professionals. We support and encourage professional growth of our members and all those working with breastfeeding women and children throughout the state of Florida.

501(c)(6): A 501(c)(6) membership-based nonprofit is an organization that exists to promote its members' business interests, without the goal of making a profit. In addition, these organizations must make sure that no one individual or shareholder benefits financially from the organization's income. While charitable nonprofits must serve a public good and be supported by the public, a trade association and similar organizations do not have to serve the public good.
